Jim is an award winning underwater photographer, filmmaker, author, and conservationist who rewrote the rules of shark diving by pioneering cageless encounters with large predators like tiger sharks, great hammerheads, bull sharks, oceanic whitetips, and lemon sharks. With over 40 years of experience diving in the Bahamas and beyond, Jim has spent countless hours building trust with these incredible animals—he’s even removed hooks from sharks and formed bonds that allow divers to watch them behave naturally .
His unique approach has been featured by National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, IMAX, Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel, and his photography and films have inspired conservation around the globe. When he’s not in the water, Jim operates the Shear Water liveaboard year round and runs his Scuba Adventures business out of West Palm Beach, FL.
