Dunbar Rock sits offshore from Guanaja, one of Honduras’ Bay Islands. The setting offers direct access to Guanaja’s reef system, with more than 50 dive sites featuring walls, pinnacles, lava tunnels and wrecks. Location

Located about 18 miles east of Roatán and 30 miles north of mainland Honduras, Guanaja is the easternmost of Honduras' Bay Islands. Dunbar Rock sits offshore from Guanaja, surrounded by smaller cays and Caribbean waters.

Underwater Highlights

Guanaja boasts vertical walls, pinnacles, lava tunnels and wrecks. Divers can explore the shallow reef directly around Dunbar Rock, where coral heads, sea fans, sponges and tropical fish thrive in only 10 to 15 foot depths.

On the Island

Dunbar Rock offers a secluded setting with a white-sand beach, infinity pool, kayaks and paddleboards. Guests can also explore Guanaja and nearby cays on staff-led excursions, allowing travelers to explore surrounding areas between dives.

Dunbar Rock Dive Center

During your stay, you’ll dive with the PADI 5 Star Dive Center at Dunbar Rock. You'll have access to more than 50 dive sites around Guanaja plus a shallow house reef only steps from the resort's beach. The dive team provides concierge-style service, handling your gear from preparation through rinsing and storage.

Diving Experience

  • Three dives Sunday through Thursday and two morning dives Friday
  • Unlimited tanks for the 10–15-foot house reef around Dunbar Rock

 

What to Expect

  • Custom dive boats with shaded areas, freshwater showers, and camera rinse tanks
  • Dive sites 20–45 minutes from the resort by boat
  • Dive guides who prepare, change, and store your gear
  • Marine life including squid, tropical fish, nudibranchs, shrimp, crab, and octopus
  • The 240 foot Jado Trader wreck, resting at 80-110 feet

Payment Schedule

  • First payment: A $1,000 deposit is due at signup to secure your spot.

Meet Your Trip Leader

 

Nina Homan

Independent Open Water Instructor

Nina shares Diventures vision of creating safety and fun in and around the water. In her youth, Nina was a lifeguard and certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. She began scuba diving in 2017 and was hooked after seeing firsthand the beauty and serenity of the world beneath the ocean’s surface. Nina enjoys providing others with the skills and knowledge required to experience all the underwater world has to offer.  Leading Diventures trips allows Nina an opportunity to expand her “scuba family” and witness the excitement on the faces of newly certified divers. Nina is a level 6 diver and an Open Water Instructor.
