Conservation Efforts

The Maldives is home to an abundance of marine life and luckily there are organizations to protect it. One organization is the Olive Ridley Project. The Olive Ridley Project works to research and protect sea turtles. The Maldives is home to five out of seven sea turtle species, and more research needs to be done on them which is what the Olive Ridley Project strives to do.

The Maldives is also home to a large population of manta rays. The Manta Trust has the goal of a sustainable future for the oceans, where manta rays and their relatives thrive in healthy, diverse marine ecosystems. The Manta Trust helps research, collaborate and educate to help with the conservation and protection of manta rays.

Patrick Manning

In 2015, Patrick found the perfect escape from the grind of graduate school- SCUBA! He finished  his OPW cert and wasn't satisfied; so a few semesters later, he led students through skills in the pool as an assistant. He joined the Diveshop/Diventures in 2018. Now as a Gold Instructor, he enjoys passing on his experiences and knowledge to his students and aims to be an Instructor trainer. When you dive with him, he makes sure your experience is momentous and full of positive energy from start to finish. His favorite dive spots include wreck dives In  the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic, Cozumel, and Costa Rica.  Whether it’s a cool quarry or an international adventure, he can’t wait to take that next plunge.
